BOSTON, Massachusetts: Massachusetts restaurants will no longer be required to limit their seating capacities beginning March 1.
Government sources say Governor Charlie Baker is expected to make an announcement on business openings on Thursday.
Additionally, tables will continue to be restricted to sitting parties no larger than six, and diners will only be able to remain at their tables for 90 minutes.
Additionally, musical performances will again be allowed in restaurants.
Baker is also expected to allow stadiums, arenas and exhibition halls to reopen, as of March 22. However, locations that hold 5,000 people or more will only be allowed to admit 12 percent of their capacities.
Bars and nightclubs, however, will remain closed.
Reports from the Centers for Disease Control indicate that 16.1 percent of Massachusetts' population has had their first COVID vaccine dose. Those having received both doses account for 5.9 percent of the state's population.
Despite the new measures allowing for increased capacity, bars and nightclubs will remain closed, the source said.
